Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are like a modern-day version of Tina Turner stroking the microphone in a spangled mini-dress while fronting the Rolling Stones circa Sticky Fingers. The proof is there for all to hear on the band's third album for Hollywood Records and marks an artistic breakthrough for a vital young band caught in the act of fulfilling its immense promise. Little wonder that Grace and her cohorts have chosen to title it, directly and emphatically, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Album produced by Mark Batson (Jay-Z, Dr Dre, Alicia Keys).

Album Description
2010 release, the third album from the Vermont-based Rock outfit fronted by multi-instrumentalist Grace Potter. The band blends funky Blues, Soul and Rock influenced by bands from the '60s and '70s. Unlike other modern singer/songwriters, Grace has guts, gusto and knows how to Rock with the help of her ace band The Nocturnals. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals are like a modern-day version of Tina Turner stroking the microphone in a spangled mini-dress while fronting the Rolling Stones circa Sticky Fingers.

Fantastic CD from Grace and the band! The wait was worth it! Buy this CD, you will not be disappointed! And make it a point to see these guys live, they truly are the state of Rock-N-Roll today. Medicine just rocks, Oasis just keeps sounding better and better the more I hear it, the whole CD is absolutely awesome!

This is the first album by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals that truly captures their live energy (which is insane and awesome!). Their previous two releases are both very good, but IMO this third album is the only one that really captures their energy and passion. GPN is an all-original band that cherry-picks the best of 70's rock sounds - the grit, the soul, the larger-than-life (before it gave way to 80's ridiculousness), and the FUN. Grace and the Nocturnals know how to party and they know how to rock! This album makes you want to dance, stay out way too late, and helps keep you awake on the long drive home from the party afterwards :)

This album has great riffs and hooks, a balanced sound (leaves lots of sonic room for the bass and drums, both of which are solid and deserve the space!), great lyrics, and showcases the tight musicianship that has made GPN such a great live band. There's a nice mix of tempos / sounds with the various songs and how they're arranged on the album. I really like the guitar riffs on "Only Love" and "One Short Night" - it sounds like he's palm-muting and it really works with the songs. Love it :) The harmonica on "Goodbye Kiss" slides right in and makes a little niche for itself and it sounds awesome. Grace lets it rip with her vocals on all of the tracks and she has quite the set of pipes. The whole album drips sweat, booze, and sex.

Do yourself a favor and check out this album - it rocks from start to finish and you'll be seat dancing before you know it. And make sure you get to a live show - I go to a lot of rock and folk shows and GPN put on the best show of any band I've seen in the past two or three years - they blew some of my lifetime favorites right out of the water. In terms of stage presence, I would put them right up there with the Tragically Hip, a Canadian rock band that is well-known for their awesome live shows.

Okay, so I just discovered Grace Potter & The Nocturnals by listening to this CD--I bought it since my friend suggested it. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS BAND AND CD! Grace Potter has a fantastic voice--her vocals are amazing! "Paris (ooh la la)" is by far my favorite, followed by "Hot Summer Night," and "Low Road." I can listen to this CD every day and it doesn't get old. Grace actually reminds me of Norah Jones--but much better since it's rock, meaning a lot more fun! DEFINITELY BUY THIS CD!

Great album. The songs are a mixture of rock, soul, southern rock, a little americana, etc. Grace Potter's vocals are clear and dynamic..at times earthy, at other times sweet and sensual. The band is energetic with some great guitar.

This is a group a person can easily learn to favor for the long haul. Their music lives and breathes as I hear it and respond. It's a personal sound with a public resonance. Now that I've enjoyed three albums I can see they're doing what I like doing in my own endeavors -- improving. Most of the changes, including exploring the lyrical rhythms of a red hot momma, and the new band members, are good. I'm hoping Ms Potter doesn't go too far with the changes, though, because I love that smokin' voice and the songs she writes from the heart to exploit it.
